Types of KITAS:
Work Permit (IMTA):
- If you wish to work in Bali and receive a salary, you need both a valid work permit (IMTA) and a temporary (or limited) stay permit (KITAS).
- The IMTA is the actual work permit, while the KITAS is the temporary stay permit. They are issued together.
- Your employer must sponsor you for the KITAS and IMTA. The company must demonstrate that they need a foreigner for a specific job that requires higher qualifications.
- Note: Work permits are not granted for certain low-skilled positions (e.g., waiters, bartenders).
Investor Visa:
- For those investing in Bali or Indonesia, the KITAS can be obtained under this category.
- It allows you to stay in Indonesia while managing your investments.
Family Visa:
- Spouses and dependents of Indonesian citizens can apply for a KITAS under family reunification provisions.
- Also known as KITAS Suami/Istri (Spouse KITAS).
Retirement Visa:
- Designed for retirees who want to enjoy Bali’s lifestyle.
- Allows you to stay long-term without employment.
Student Visa:
- Students pursuing education in Indonesia can obtain a KITAS.
- Requires enrollment in a recognized educational institution.
How to Obtain KITAS:
Sponsorship:
- You must be sponsored by the company you’ll work for (for work permits) or meet the criteria for other KITAS categories.
- The sponsoring company applies for your KITAS and IMTA.
Qualifications:
- Your certificates and CV should reflect your suitability for the specific job or purpose (e.g., work, investment, study).
Validity and Renewal:
- KITAS can be valid for either six months or 12 months, depending on the job type.
- Regular renewal is necessary.
Remember, KITAS ensures legal compliance and allows you to fully embrace Bali’s vibrant lifestyle.
